ASRA'S History

Our History

Founded in 1984, ASRA began as a community initiative aimed at supporting South Asian elderly individuals who were facing personal, social, health, and family challenges.

Established as a group of professionals and local people, the organisation initially operated as a homeless hostel in Smethwick providing much-needed relief for those in need.

Our Journey

ASRA gradually expanded it's scope to include Health & Social Care Services.

Over the years, we've adapted to meet the evolving needs of our community, offering specialised care and support to elderly and disabled individuals, as well as families who require assistance.

Today, ASRA is a community association, a registered charity, and a private limited company, but our core mission has remained unchanged: to provide care that is attentive, respectful, and culturally sensitive.

Our Mission

Dedicated to enhance the quality of life for those we serve.

By delivering personalised care that honours the dignity, independence, and cultural background of each individual. Whether in the Home, at our Day Care Centre, or through our wider Social Services ASRA provides.

Our aim is to ensure that every person feels supported, valued, and part of a community.

Our Goals

Implementation of a Facility Modernisation Plan: This initiative encompasses a full refurbishment of our Day Care Centre to achieve Net Zero emissions and increased capacity, accompanied by the development of a purpose-built community centre to support professional and personal development within the community.
